Question:

How can I make an authentic, India-style fruitcake?

My husband really wants me to learn how to make an Indian style fruitcake. I am a good baker but I am not familiar with how to make that type of fruitcake.

We get it at the Indian stores sometimes and it is so delicious, the texture is like that of a Twinkie and muffin hybrid, flavored with orange peel and small bits of fruit.

It's nothing like a Western fruitcake, so please don't answer with links on how to make traditional American style fruitcake. THANKS!

Anyone out there from the Desh want to help me out?

  2. Yeah I am from that 'Desh', but sorry to disappoint you there is no such thing as Indian style Fruit Cake. Indian cuisine does not include cakes, pastries etc. Though we enjoy eating them and do have a lot of cake shops all over, the recipes aren't Indian.

  3. That's funny, I am Indian and didnt even know we had an Indian style fruit cake!!

Thx, I will try the recipe out myself one of these days!
