How can I make an easy candy cannon?

Okay I love to go all out for Halloween, and this year we're building pirate ship, again. We did this last year too, but we want to make it better. We had nice looking cannons I made out of pvc pipes but they didn't do anything other than look cool. How awesome would it be if we could shoot out candy. I'm no engineer or remotely close, so any EASY ideas? I don't want it to be too powerful, and it has to be affordable. I know. I'm difficult.

blow up a balloon and tie the bottom then pop it take the top cone shaped part of the balloon and glue it on the outside of a wide pipe or tissue roll or a stack of construction paper (just something that wont break and has alot of clearage) then when you put the candy in you pull the bottom tied part of the balloon down and when you release it it will shoot out kind of like a low grade slingshot
