How can I make a old looking book? I want it to look a bit magical.

How can I make the paper looked yellowed and old and "faded"? What can I use for the covers? What kind of fabric and how easy is it to find?

I'd really appreciate "sensible" answers, thanks! I'm also on a tight budget!

  1. for the pages to look old...take plain white paper and soak them with tea/tea bags (the cheapest you can find is fine).  Also to make the pages look really neat...burn the edges with a lighter so they have the charred look - it looks really cool.

  2. Hi !

You can just let it sit in the Sun and it will yellow the pages and fade any colors .

  3. i like your question, I myself have always wanted to read those old looking books, because they just look classic.

I think you should start by crunching it up into a ball, like folding it. After wards, get it wet in some areas. this fill make the fold places look significant.

Do not exxagerate, if you do, it will look like a fake treasure map. After that, repeat it to all the pages. Then staple tehm, make some rips if necassary, and you have an old looking book. Thanks for asking!

  4. The most common and inexpensive way is print your book on cream-colored paper that has been dyed with tea. Use a bit of battered leather to 'cover' the cover, using petina-covered brass studs for securing it.

  5. You could rub a tea bag over it after its been wet

to give it that yellowy brown tinge, or you an use coffee.

You can tear the corners of the paper and crease it a lil bit and

that shoudl work out fine. If your going to type it out have it in old roman italic writing, or if its hand written make it italic and old fashioned by using olden day English.

    All the best!
