My rabbit's cage is very hard to clean. Does anyone know of any rabbit cages that are easy to clean? Or do you have any suggestions on ways to make cleaning your rabbit's cage easier?

Thanks!

  1. My dad made a little house for a rabbit we had. The bottom was of chicken wire, so everytime he pooed it would fall onto the ground. Maybe you should get one of those dog kennels, some have trays on the bottom so if they go poo i'll fall there and just line it with paper or cedar shavings.

  2. Well, if the pan is too hard to slide out, try spraying some cooking spray onto the bottem of it, also spray some on the stop, then add litter, or bedding, I perferr to use woodships, because they smell SOOO much better when they get wet.

You should also try to litter train your bunny, this makes cleaning a lot easier. For litter training tips email me

Also, try getting a cat box scooper, with smaller holes, it may help save some shavings. Some of the ideas I would and would not use for bedding are of the following

    YES-

    *Wood Chips Pine/Ceder

*Wood shavings, you can make these yourself, by sawing up some wood, to use for other uses for your family, or the bunny.

    *Shredded newspaper

    NO

*I woulden't use whole sheets of newspaper, cause they stick, and can be yucky to clean up

*You could use cat litter, but it doesn't smell, or work the greatest

I would clean cage once every 2-3 days, and if you litter train, clean the litter pan every 1-2 days.

  3. I am planning for two rabbits soon and have asked the same question to some rabbit people. So I have decided to use an extra large dog kennel with a storage cube (whitmor storage cubes at walmart) attachment. I just set it up and everything is super easy to access. I know some people that just use the Cubes to build cages there are websites all over with how people have put them together.

  4. Why is it hard to clean?  What are you using for a cage.  It should just be a daily change of newspaper on the bottom and a weekly hose down.  Using a cat litter scoop can help get their poops up a little easier.

  5. I think the best cage would be the ones with the wired bottoms where the p**p can just fall down to the tray below. All you have to do is slide the tray out and throw the p**p out. I heard newspaper isn't a good bedding because if it eats it it could die.
