My friend told me that plastic can be made from wheat, the plastic will then be biodegradable. I wanna know how to make one, and also, can wheat be extracted from bread or stale bread? Can biodegradable plastic be made from other sources(by-products,. etc.).thanks to those who took time to answer,,,,^_^

  1. isnt plastic just oil?

if this is true there must be a way to use any oil from canola to  animal fats which are edible so i assume biodegradable?

  2. They can make it from corn too but that leaves the question of what happens to the people who needed that for food.  I think we should stop using oil for transportation and power generation. We should leave oil for the petrochemical industry to use for the production of plastics, fertilizers, pesticides, and other products.

  3. I know that items like plates, bowls, forks and spoons and packaging similar to plastic can be made from corn. Theoretically, these would be biodegradable, but in order for that to happen they would have to be subjected to temperatures of 140degrees F for a period of at least 10 days. This is not likely to occur in a landfill. So practically these items are not the godsend that their manufacturers would like us to believe. Target now sells bedding that is made from corn and clothing produced from corn will soon be on the market.

While I am not 'allergic' to corn I do have a chemical sensitivity to both corn and wheat. Exposure makes me ill. So I'm educating myself and doing my best to avoid these substances.

I highly recommend an independent film titled King Corn.
