My cafeteria is closing, and I don't have a stove, but I would like to have egg whites in the morning. I have a microwave, but how will they taste and how long should they be nuked?

  1. I make an omelet or mcmuffin type sandwich and just gently heat it up at work in the microwave.

I make an omelet with rice, bacon and onion in it and it reheats great.

I also make little mini quiche and they heat up well too.

    Just reheat gently.

  2. Bring your own Boiled Eggs.

  3. If you are wanting them scrambled, it's best to use a glass bowl, and it needs to be bigger than you'd expect, because the eggs will puff up quite a bit.  You also need to watch them closely while they cook.

Add your eggs, salt, pepper, a little splash of water  (and anything else you want - Parmesan cheese is good!) and mix well.  Put in the microwave for 1 minute, but watch it cook!  As soon as you see the eggs starting to set, take it out and stir.  Continue cooking for about 15-20 seconds at a time, stirring between cooking. If not, the outer edges can get dried out and nasty.

  4. They will definitely taste different being cooked on a pan but if you put it in a microwave and set the temperature high and cook it for less than a minute, it would not taste bad.

  5. I would just boil the eggs at home and bring them to work. It is much easier and alot less mess than trying to cook eggs at work!

  6. If you like poached eggs you can get a microwave safe egg poacher.  Their not technically poached but they taste good and are similar to poached.  I cook mine for about 1.2 minutes.
