First, update it on a consistent basis and make sure it's perfect and professional.  Perhaps try to get interviews with local or celebrity sports people.  Try to get a lot of hits on your site and have the ability to back up exactly how many hits you get (and unique users).  You might need to invest in this by placing advertisements in publications or radio stations where you think likely readers would be.  Once you have the data supporting that people are reading your blog, create an advertising package for potential advertisers - again, focusing on places/things where the readers might go (sports bars?  athletic stores?) and sell them advertising spots on your page.  I don't know how tech savvy you are, but if you can create banner advertisements with click-throughs from your page to your advertisers' pages you could get a pretty cool little business going.  Make sure blogspot.com allows you to do things like this before starting anything...  good luck!

Go with Google AdSense, it's by far the most popular advertisement program and really easy to set up with blogger.
