There should be kits you can buy. Look online at ebay for details on what they are called and what specifics they have. Then you can go into almost any toy store and buy the motors to build at home.

just buy a motor from a shop and break it to know much about it or u can also go for furthur details on search engines like google,ebay,amazon. or go to some nearby shop and ask form the mechanic.

There will be two steps to doing this

1. Build a small DC motor using instructions in a middle school science projects book (or from on-line) or from a kit from science electrical projects, which will show you the basic principals but make a motor which isn't very powerful or smooth.

2. Look carefully at motors in car toys to see how they are made differently.  The greatest problem is building the multiple section comutator for smoother power and working at the small sizes.

One problem in experimenting is getting the fine copper wire coated with thin enamel insulation which allows placing the wire very tightly when winding the coils, etc.  You can't use bare wire and cloth or plastic insulation spreads the wire out too much.  It is called magnet wire.

There are various ways to make a simple DC motor for demonstration purposes.  The motors inside toy cars and other small devices are constructed through very sophisticated processes that are not accessible to most people at home.  You would at the least need a pretty complete machine shop and the ability to handle very fine enameled wire.  It is not feasible.  But you can buy miniature motors of all types in hobby shops and on the internet.  Good luck!
