  1. Don't give her anything but milk in the sippy cup.  When she's thirsty, she'll drink it.....PERIOD!

  2. maybe you should get flavored milk. i know they have chocolate, strawbery, and i've even seen banana flavored milk. also, if you're not heating it, maybe she'll like it better heated, and if you are heating it, maybe she'll like it better cold.

if she still refuses to drink her milk, make sure you find food with a lot of protein in it.

  3. I had the same problem with my 18 month old.  I tried giving her chocolate milk and she wouldn't drink it.  The only way she would drink milk from a sippy was for us to warm it a little.   About a month ago she started drinking it cold.

  4. Well, this is definately a challenge. I have a 15 month old as well. She will drink milk from her sippy cup, but not as much as she does from a bottle. As a matter of fact, she is not drinking as much milk from her bottle now too. I just went to my pediatrician and she suggested ( to my amazement) to put nestle's Quik (chocolate or strawberry) in her milk. She said to use as little as possible, but thta it was ok to use it. Now my daughter is of normal weight and she said she would not suggest this to a parent of a heavier toddler. Ask your doctor if it's okay and I bet she will suck it down from her sippy cup!!!

  5. my daughter hates milk out of a sippy to and i cant blame her. milk tastes different when you drink it through them, i find. I dont put milk in a sippy and never have for either of my kids. Not to mention they have associated milk in a bottle for so long, the cup just isnt for them when it comes to  milk. just keep trying, its all you can do.

  6. At 12 months we started cutting back on the amount of milk in the bottles.  So instead of an 8 oz bottle at the bedtime bottle, only giving 6 oz.  Then 4 oz.  Etc.  Until that bottle was eliminated.  Then we did the afternoon bottle the same way.  Our boys are 14 months now and down to only their morning bottle, they drink from sippy cups the rest of the day.  We just started cutting down their morning bottle.

I know people are saying "just take the bottles away", but I think this is a much less traumatic way to ween them from the bottle.

  7. May seem a bit harsh, but....Only give her milk for a day or so.  Make sure it is always in a sippy cup and that is the only option.

Could try and go to the store and make a special event out of letter the little one pick out the sippy cup that they are going to use.  That might work better with an older child but you might have some luck with that.

Another option would to just hide all the other cups except the sippy cups and show the little one that they are all gone.  Pick the kid up and let them look in the cupboard and see that all the "baby cups" are gone and that to be a big kid, they have to only use the "big kid sippy cups"

Don't give in and just let them have it.  This is a battle of wills between kid and parent...you must be strong or they will know that they can win with enough whining.
