I have soccer tryout two a day practices starting tomorrow, and my abs really hurt today, and so do my arm muscles. We have to run the one mile, the two mile in under 15 min, and sprinting, and 5 can't preform at the peak of my abilities if i'm sore :(

Anyone have any pain suggestions besides medicine? I took a couple ibeprofen a while ago and my abs still hurt :(

  1. not really. that hurt is lactic acid which is what happens when you work out. it hurting doesnt mean you're weaker than normal though. just stretch really well before the tryouts and you'll be fine. home remedies are usually bull **** anyways. If you really want to try something out, try flexing the muscle that hurts and releasing. do that for about 5-10 minutes with every muscle that hurts. its called isometrics and it will pump blood into the muscle and help it to heal slightly faster. no miracle though

  2. Good thinking for the advil. That should help a lot.

Try tylenol too, the two work well together. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do at this point, except put a heating pad on it and maybe even try stretching it out (AFTER you've warmed up the muscle you want to stretch).

It's difficult to stretch ab muscles, but the only think I can say about this is stretch, strech and strech. Especially after you run tomorrow, or the next day you'll be super sore.

The more you practice whatever exercise you were doing to make your abs hurt, the less sore it'll get. Remember, the pain means you worked hard! :)

    Good luck! :)
