Question:

How can I make my bedroom look bigger?

I am repainting my room soon and I would like to know what would be the best shades (darker, lighter, medium) and where those colors would go. I have a somewhat small, square bedroom. One of the walls is mostly consumed by a two mirror door closet. I really want to use a dark peacock blue color... something blue/green and not very bright. But at the same time I want my room to appear bigger than it is. Suggestions?

  1. smaller rooms look bigger with light colored walls. black walls shrink a room- almost literally, i swear lol- try making your most non-showing wall (the closet one) a darker peacock shade, the other walls you can paint a corresponding peacock color, because real peacocks have alot of colors on them.

  2. okay so if ur room is semi-small use semi-bright colors not to bright and not dark dark colors make a room smaller.but to bright of colors can make u idk what's the word jumpey, and to bright. u can still do green and blue but not to dark or bright of thoses colors.hope that helps. good luck.

  3. My friend made her room look bigger by painting one wall green and then keeping the rest of the walls white. On the opposite side of the green wall, she has two doors so she painted them the same green as the opposite wall! She also painted her fan panels green and two shelves that she placed on the white walls.

    Her room looks AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i would just have one wall painted that blue color and then keep the rest white. and then paint your closet doors blue also!

  4. you could possibley use dry erase paint with magnetic paint then colour it they sell it at homedepot. I think it would save a lot of space for your papers and notes and stuff. to make a room bigger though just rearrange your furniture and add more mirrors[they work great for making a room larger].

  5. blue

  6. Well, to make a room smaller, you would want to paint it a light color, because darker tones "crowd" the room... Also don't use a lot of furniture, try to even out the furniture like the bed (a large piece) on one wall, and the large dresser on the other wall!

    Try this color palette:

It has the blues, and a beautiful shade of green-scroll down to see a bigger picture of the colors!

This is also a pretty pattern, that matches the color palette above~

    I hope this helps!

  7. The lighter the better - peacock blue is a lovely colour but will swallow all the light. Better to go for something like white, ivory or pale silver grey, and accessorise in the richness of peacock blue, maybe the bedlinen. Add more mirrors if you can bear it to throw the light around and open up the space.

  8. Maybe you can push all the furniture onto the wall such as your bed. You might get bigger space.

  9. Keep it Clean!

You might want to move around your furniture to the walls or as close to the sides as you can.  Leave more space in the middle of your room, this will make it look like you have room to do anything.

And also don't waste any space along the walls! Something always fits!
