Ok...I have scanned it 62 times with 16 different scanners. I am now on Threatfire It has protected my computer. It is now virus spyware and adware and malware free. Now...It still lags so bad!!! I have Defragged four times in the past week. I have done the disk cleaning. I have gotten rid of over half of my memory that was completely full. I went from 244 mb to 53GB out of 80GB.

The biggest problem is...When I turn it on, It only shows the desktop picture. I will not show the icons on the desktop, or the tool bar at the bottom which has the Start menu...So I restart it, It freezes at the 'Shutting Off' Menu so I press the button, wait an hour, press it again, wait an hour, sign in, wait an hour, and it'll work...but none of my games, Project Powder, Fiesta, Flyff, Rumble Fighters. Will work, they all lag.

And most of my programs won't even work. I'm cleaning the computer again as I type this. I'm desperate about this. No stupid answers like "Get a new computer" Or w/e I want serious answers that will help me. I want a fast fast computer. I am on the sudden link cable internet. It's suppose to be fast...It's slower then dial-up. So what could be wrong with it? Please help...Reminder, it's virus free, clean, full of memory and space.

AND my start up menu only has 2 programs that come up. ThreatFire and Mcafee. Please help me!!!

Reinstall it with the *Delete the C:\Windows folder* to start anew.  It might sound like a lot of work to both install the Window and programs afterward but this is the best option.

  7. It really helps if you give us the OS and specs on your computer.

Something made the icons and everything else go away. They did not go away on their own.  What was the cause?  Knowing the cause will help in solving the problem.  What did the scans show?

Were you downloading and installing programs etc?

What virus/malware/spyware protection have you been using?

Have you done a registry clean?

You can't really blame the Internet as being slow when you have all these computer problems.
