My 58-year-old dad hasn't been to a doctor in about a decade, and I'm very worried about him. He smokes a few packs a day and is an alcoholic. I think he has COPD. Also, I saw him yesterday for the first time in a few months and I noticed him shaking. I wasn't sure if it was the DTs or if maybe he's developing Parkinson's. His father had Parkinson's. Anyways, I'm wondering how I can force him to go to the doctor. Telling him that I'm concerned about him won't make him go.

  1. Tell him you are going out to eat together but drive him to the doctor insted.

  2. talk to him . If he doesn't respond well the you may need to file a petition for guardinship. Then he will have to go and get  checked out. My Grandmother would not go and my family did this. She is now on medication and doing very well. She is 89 and still lives in her own home. Good luck.

  3. Shoot him in the shoulder with a gun. If he doesn't go after that, then hit him in the face with a shovel and call an ambulance.
