How can I make my days more meaningful?

Everyday is the same. Life is beginning to feel like a chore.

I already work out, read books, see friends. what else is there to do? How can I make life more exciting & meaningful?

Don't say, "follow your dreams" cos I only have long-term dreams that I already am following. Don't say ski-diving or something lame like that, not into things like that. Dont say something like, "fall in love" because that is not a choice, its something that happens upon opportunity. I just want something amazing to happen, something mind-blowing. is there anything? I feel ready to give up :(

  1. Find a political, ethical, environmental, spiritual, artistic, intellectual or humanitarian cause you are passionate about. When you feel passionate about a cause and helping others it helps you feel more fulfilled and less empty. For me animal rights and environmental initiatives are my passion. But you need to find yours. What global, moral or social injustice makes you mad, and think what you can do to help. Helping others can also in turn help you.

  2. try the book that neeti recommended.. its really good and talks about how to apreciate life's beauty

  3. Often happiness and meaningfulness  is a creation of the mind.

Perhaps you need to reach out beyond yourself doing something you normally wouldn't consider doing. Put your stuff in storage and join the peace core for a year or two. If you can't do that give yourself smaller close to home things to do to help others. Usually helping without need for return is good for the soul.

Whether it be working once a week in a soup kitchen for the poor or getting involved in some charity it will do your heart good.

Read some Buddah and Zen. and the bible (I am a Christian but believe that other ways of thoughts are good for the soul.

  7. Maybe try volunteering for something.  I guess that's a cliche, but still.  Serve food at a homeless shelter, become a mentor for someone disabled...something like that.  There are tons of charity programs out there.  Even if you are helping people/contributing to society, whatever, by your job...sometimes it is hard to appreciate that you are having any effect on the world unless you can see it directly, hands-on.

  8. Do your "chores" with a smile. Remember the little joys of life. Opening a new book, a new package of crayons...

Keep holding on that dream, because that should be the reason for you to tolerate every lame day. Though you should make new dreams for you to pursue after your primary dream is fufilled.

  9. learn the meaning in what you do already to start with - until you know your qualities finding more stuff you can't see past isn't going to help.

you luxuriate - so knowing the value of the society that supports the luxuriant lifestyles many lead will provide you gratitude for that luxuriant lifestyle your apprecation of your society in which which protects you from having to fight to survive in - will direct your response to it or maybe to your fellow men who do not appreciate its benefits so.

give yourself biological social and intellectual goals and spend the qualities you have developed. Social and intellectual effect should be easy for you given your situation and i'll give you a real easy self-worth 'starter' on the biological quality front  - get yourself signed up on a bone marrow donor register and give blood before Friday. no time  for messing if you want to feel again! Get direction from your friends who know you far better - if you are serious and want to be more.

I found the following things brightened up my day a little - learning another language, watching documentaries (not crappy tv or movies), keeping an online blog, baking yummy stuff for my mates and delivering to their houses, did a little online shopping in preperation for christmas (watch out, it can get addictive - set a budget BIG time!), bush walking, camping, volunteer work for cancer council or anything really, learned more about stuff i'm interested in but never had the time to do before, put all my photos into albums, if all else fails..... buy a dirt bike!! Good luck!

  18. Excellent question!!!!!

    Start a gratitude journal.

Write down several things every day that you are thankful for.

A lot of times we take life for granted.

    Thank you for your question!

    Best regards!

  19. Try to reach out a touch another person's life every day.  It's amazing how much more meaningful life becomes when your focus becomes less on you own enjoyment, and more on that of someone else.  I know that may sound simplistic, but there are so many things we can do to help someone else's day be a little brighter, or to help someone else feel a little more cared for.  Random acts of kindness....so much of what there is in the world passes us by when we fail to see the world outside our own experience.

  20. what are you asking

first you ask how to make your days more meaningful and then you tell them not to ask you what they think would make your days more meaningful

and instead you expect us to tell you to do something mindblowing

how is that making your day more meaningful

if you want to make your day more meaningful, donate half your salary to charity
