Question:

How can I make my dog feel better?

My dog got into the garbage can yesterday and ate four cups of flan I threw out. Today, my mom told me he's thrown up several times today, but I haven't seen it. When he needs to throw up, he asks to go outside, then he throws up. How can I make him feel better, or stop him from throwing up, or soothe him in some way?

  1. five him some tagament (its that white milky stuff you drink when you can't stop throwing up or pooping).  pill form is easiest wraped in cheese or a treat, but the liquid will work just the same.  for a 45 pound we gave 1 pill every 6 hours.  you can cut them if needed.  liquid was about a teaspoon every 6 hours.  we use one of those baby dropper things and stick it in the back of their throat and hold their mouth closed til they swallow it.  if you don't hold it closed, it will be everywhere.  trust me on that one.  our vet recommended we do this and keep some on hand because we have one that loves to get into and eat everything he can find!

  2. He'll hopefully learn his lesson.  Fortunately, he should be fine (unless he has severe food allergies...then we've got a problem).  My dog just threw up 2 times yesterday out of the blue.  He probably ate something stupid...he's a scent hound, so they get into EVERYTHING.  When he throws up, I kind of rub his back and belly ever so gently until he is done.  When he is done, he kinda drools (because barfing sucks and to my experience, tastes bad).  I take a damp paper towel and wipe the excess barf and drool off of his mouth and try to entice him to some water.  Good luck.

  3. give him a teaspoon of pepto bismal evey 4 to 6 hrs today and it will soothe his stomach. give him lots of water to drink and bland foods like cooked chicken and cooked rice in small amounts.he should feel better when the flan gets out of his system. good luck

  4. There really isn't a lot you can do. Make sure he has water at all times so he doesn't get dehydrated...that's a biggie. If it doesn't stop soon, take him to a vet.

  5. There are some home remedies to handle a sour stomach.  A few table spoons of pumpkin or cooked rice (depending on which end the upset is coming out of), but it looks like a vet call might be in order.  Make sure he's getting a ton of water, vomitting will leave him dehydrated.

  6. He will probably be ok by tonight. Just let him out as often as possible. This will teach him a lesson. Next time he smells flan, he'll stay away. Dog's shouldn't eat that kinda stuff.

  7. He will be Ok by tonight. Just keep letting him out. If he sees it again, he won't go near it. He'll be Ok.

  8. red rocket, red rocket!

  9. Unfortunately, he'll just have to pay the price for eating garbage. His system will have to work it out. However, if by tomorrow he's still vomiting and isn't able to keep any food down, I'd consult with your vet.

In the meantime, there's really nothing you can do except let nature take it's course.

  10. If your dog is throwing up a lot, make sure you keep him hydrated. Lots of water, less food until he feels better or he'll throw up more. Some dogs eat plants to soothe their upset tummy, it helps them throw up anything that is making their stomach feel bad.

    Hope he feels better.

  11. Feed him something bland like plain rice or bread and just sit quietly with him and pet him. If it doesn't stop soon, he'll need to see a vet.

  12. well there isnt probabli much u can do so make sure he has water and jus relax him and reassure him and give him lots of love

    GOOD LUCK

  13. If the dog is throwing up several times, he needs to see a vet. Was there chocolate in the flan?
