How can I make my goldfish really happy?

I just bought 4 common goldfish for my 20 gallon tank. I say common because they were $1.50 each. The tank is long since established and has real plants.. My last guppy died a while ago.

How can I make my goldfish really happy? I know the tank needs to be cleaned all the time as gold fish are dirty fish.

A friend has more mollies than her tank can handle. Can I add a few mollies to the tank? Do you think they would get along?

Give your goldfish a treat once a week by placing a slice of orange in the tank for them.  It will float at the top and the goldfish will pick at it for hours.  The vitamin C is excellent for them and the fiber is good for their digestive systems.  Remove the rind after a few hours.  It is possible to keep mollies with goldfish but not the best idea for several reasons.  The goldfish will eat the baby mollies and mollies usually need warmer water than the goldfish.  However, both mollies and goldfish enjoy a little bit of salt in their water and both need to be fed several times a day.  They both need vitamin C in their diets and enjoy real plants like hornwort and anacharis.  You might think about getting a small power head to increase water circulation in your tank.  These pumps are submersible and relatively inexpensive and will increase the oxygen level in the water which is good for the fish.  You could then consider adding a butterfly koi or calico shubunkin to your tank.

Goldfish are relatively easy to care for if given good clean water. A clean water always makes a goldfish happy. (Any kind of goldfish).

To make goldfish happy and also healthy always feed them once a day with vitamins, doing weekly waterchange of 25%, not to put hands in the water (yes u can but once weekly), not to overfeed no matter what (try to underfeed), and checking the goldfish every week to see that it dosent have any dieseases on its body. These will definately keep a goldfish happy and healthy.

No you cant mollies are livebearer fish and they tend to pick on goldfish for tertories, and a goldfish cannot stay with molly or else ur goldfish will just die as the mollies will continously pick on them.

PS: Goldfish can show whether it is happy or not. If the goldfish dosent have any clamped dorsal fin, then the water quality is good and ur goldfish is healthy and happy. And if ur goldfish has clamped fins then it might be stressed or water quality is not good. ANd it may catch diesease. For more information on goldfish care search the internet.

hmm, beware of your goldfish, they might eat your plants. put a good filter, have regular waterchanges and feed sparingly.

No, don't add mollies. Many people,including me, have noticed that livebearers such as mollies, guppies, platies and swordtails tend to pick on the goldfish.
