Question:

How can I make my guinea pigs more friendly?

When I take both inside, I put one on my lap and scratch behind his ear and let him l**k the salt off my finger but then he just wants to jump back in the box with the other. I did'nt get them together, as the oldest one was from a rescue centre along with his brother who died in January...I replaced him with another rescue guinea pig which I have now :)

They'll also eat fruit when I offer...I wonder if it's because they might have been mistreated with their previous owner.

Thanks x

Oh and I do handle them carefully a lot :)

  1. You just have to give them time really, Guinea Pigs can be very nervous but, they will feel more confident when they are together so, try spending time with both of them at the same time.

If they eat food off you then they are starting to trust you and associate you with food so give them more time and they should come out of their shells.

If they have been previously been mistreated then they will be scared so you just need to show them that youre not going to hurt them.

  2. Treat them mean keeps them keen :)

  3. Maybe bringing them out together would make them more confident and comfertable with you?

Im thinking about getting a guinea, or two as i know they like company.

Are they fun pets or do they get boring after a few weeks (As my mother is insisting haha!)

    Are they fun friendly?

Or should i not get one?

  4. well u should handle them 3 times a day and  when u feed them good luck
