How can I make my jump serve more consistent?

I have been able to get it rarely, but when I do, it is really hard, most of the times, it just goes into the net or off to the court to the left (I'm right handed).

  1. you should strech more and practice alot more

  2. practice every part of it separately: your toss your approach and your swing. All you can really do is practice

  3. to have a consistent jump serve u need to have a consistent toss so first work on getting the toss just right for what u need and get it so u do the same thing every time. THEN start to do the whole serve and if its still not working maybe try a different type of jump serve cuz sometimes ur body is better for maybe a jump-float or a slide jump. but just keep working on it and ull get it :]

  4. I recently mastered it.

Key is setting up yourself perfectly and consistently.

Be consistent with the height and location of the toss.

When you make it perfectly, remember exactly how it has been set and try to toss it the same way next time on.

If you're doing hard top-spin serves, you should toss it high enough for you to take the approach and do full armswing.

If you hit it out to the left, try lining up the ball with your hitting shoulder.  Maybe the ball is set too much to the left.  Hitting into the net can be caused by jumping too late, low toss, not enough power, or placing the set too far from you.

Just don't give up and keep on trying hard.

    Nothing comes easy in volleyball.

  5. Practice

  6. make sure your approach is consistant

make sure your toss is consistant

    and then put them together

practice makes perfect so make sure you are feeling comfortable with it.

  7. practice practice practice and always make sure you do the same thing over and over again don't change up your routine

  8. everything is in the toss so make sure its a good one! and keep practicing

  9. Try to bend your knees and keep on jumping like playing jumping rope.It will help you a lot.Drink plenty of milk because it will strenghten your bones and it will give you energy that needed of your body. Also, eggs and beef.

  10. From one who had that problem the best thing is to experiment in practice.  Try to find the right height of your toss and toss that consistantly.  I'm not sure how the proper steps are,but I've always used my steps for hitting and it has worked.  Remmeber to get on toop of the ball, just enough to ensure it doesn't go to long.  Don't try placement serving yet, just work on getting in the court.  ASk someone who has a consistant jump serve to watch you and point out where you need to improve. TIP: don't jump serve in a game unless you've been able to do it in warm ups

I have a friend who did that and it resulted in losing the game.

Good LUck and I wish you the best

  11. First of all, jump serve is always less consistent than on-the-ground serve.

Having said that, you can master your jump serve with more practice, and more workout. Put less power in your first serve would get you some extra "feeling" of the game ball before you get more serious, putting more power into the serve.

If you are "consistently" serving the ball off the left side of the court, adjust your approach to face a little more to the right side. Check your palm to see whether you want to change the contact spot or twist your wrist when swinging into the serve.

I personally like to serve floater on the ground. I am no longer that powerful server, but I was lucky in a recent tournament and served nine in a row to my opponent that was grouped together by a bunch of former oriental **national team** players... I found the weakest link of course, but I also hit some other players who were trying to help the weakest, and I hit the corner three times.

  12. i do my jump float in a step pattern:

    1. right (foot),

    2. left (foot),

    3. toss,

    4. right (foot),

    5. left (foot),

    6. hit.

Also, do these steps small, bigger, bigg-est and eventually slo, faster, fastest.

Don't worry you'll get it eventually!
