It's preventing my from sleeping, because I have so much on m mind. I've tried counting sheep, writing things down, and even have a very hard core perscription sleeping pill.

  1. There's a reason why your brain is doing this. There is most likely one or two under lying problems that your mind is trying to tackle. Just let your mind run through the problems naturally, don't fight it, and hopefully after some time your mind will slow down.

Another big help could be to give your mind some time to have peace during the day, try and take some time just to do nothing. Go for a walk, sit in the garden or the park or whatever. Just let your mind slow down to a low pace and let yourself think about the various things going on in your life in a relaxed manner.

Don't rely on pills...they're just going to force you in to unnatural sleep and even if you do get to sleep, your dreams will not run in a natural way either and so your brain will be losing out on that time where it sorts out the information while your body has shut down for the night.

  2. exercise definately helps and if ur a rx type person take sleep pills

  3. Sometimes you just get into overdrive mode. You need to break the cycle because it will just get worse: thinking too much, nervous about thinking too much, thinking too much about being nervous about thinking too much! Tell yourself that the most important thing to do is to relax and sleep when the day is done. Try exercise in the morning or afternoon, cutting out caffeine/nicotine (especially before bed), sleeping at regular hours, reading something really boring!!

You can also try hypnosis, which is what I do to get to sleep when I have to be up the next morning. There are lots of websites but one to try is : http://www.hypnosisdownloads.com/?3007

    Good luck!!

  4. That happens to me a lot. I try to concentrate on one specific thing each night. It usually helps.

  5. Maybe you should focus on whatever it is that is keeping you up. It might help to find someone to talk to like a therapist or counselor.

  6. For me it worked by working out,

just run some time before sleep and you will be ok.
