How can I make my parents proud of me?

It seems no matter what I do its not enough

Im going to be a senior in highschool next year Ive been #1 out of a class of 300 + all 3 years so far, Im captain of the cross country team, winter and spring track team, Im secretary of the senior class, I have my own job and pay for my car ,I dont drink,smoke or any of that stuff and dont get in trouble.

But they stil seem let down by me. How can I make my parents proud of me?

Don't worry about them, do what makes YOU happy. Some parents are weird like that and don't acknowledge or give praise. They are probably VERY happy and they just don't say it enough. Don't let it get you down. You sound like a great kid! They are very blessed, keep up the good work!!

I'm sorry that your parents aren't giving you the credit you deserve. That's gotta feel pretty crappy! I know this may seem easier said than done, but don't worry about pleasing them! Be proud of yourself for all of your accomplishments! Just reading you ques. makes ME proud of you and I don't even know you! LOL (I'm a mom too, but my kids are still young, so I'm proud when they don't pee their pants! LOL)

I'm sure there's TONS of people around you that are VERY proud of you, so please don't fret that your parents aren't able to convey their admiration for your accomplishments well! I don't know what their history is, but maybe it's a case where they're a little jealous or envious of you b/c they feel like they didn't succeed in the same areas that you have!

I know for myself, I'm a highly competitive person, so if someone is succeeding in an area that I did not, I get VERY defensive and end up giving up on my goal b/c I feel like I'm inadequate b/c someone can always do that certain task better than I. Does that make sense? Maybe you should step back and take a look at things thru their eyes and try to empathize w/ them as to why they don't just come right out and say, "Honey, I'm so proud of you!" Do you have aunts, uncles or grandparents that might be able to fill you in on your parents' pasts? I hope that helps and PLEASE keep up the good work!!!! This world needs more people like you in it to help make it a better place!

Well, all I can say is that it is refreshing to hear about a positive thing from a teen - usually, it's negative. Even if your parents aren't proud of you, I d**n well am!

To be honest hun, if they aren't proud of you as you are now, it's unlikely they ever will be. Just make sure YOU'RE proud of yourself - I would be.

Just carry on doing what your doing maybe they are proud of you just dont show it
