After being home schooled for ninth grade, I'm going back to my public school for my sophomore year. I am very passionate about my singing and would love to be more recognised than I was in middle school in choir. I made it into concert choir throughout middle school and all, but I have always been too shy and afraid to really speak (or sing) out. After auditioning for concert choir in seventh grade the teacher said "Why don't you sing like that in class?" So in order to really improve my voice, I'd really like stand out in choir. However, I don't want to seem cocky or arrogant like some of the students. How can I get over my shyness without looking like a egomaniac?

  1. If you want to "stand out" sing solo or duet or trio or quartet; in a choir, it's important to blend with the other voices.  Your teacher will know soon enough who knows their parts, who can sight read, who pays attention to the conductor, who breathes properly, etc. etc.
