How can I make my son gain weight?

He is 9.5 months old. I'm trying to make him gain weight. The doctor diagnosed him with failure to thrive. He is a happy and healthy baby except his weight. How can I make him gain some more? He is on Enfamil Gentlease 24 Calorie Formula. This is a stronger mixture for more calories. Doctor told me to do that. He is gaining some weight but not as much as I had hoped. My brother suggeted buttermilk. The doctors said he could eat anything he wants as long as it won't upset his stomach. What do you think of this? Are there any other ways to make him gain weight? And I dont spoon feed him baby food because it actually has less calories than the formula so the formula is better for him. I feed him cereal, and he also has a daily vitamin. What else can I do? Someone else said to get pediasure but I think he is too young for it, what do you think? HELP Please!! =)

  1. you can add cereal to his formula also 1 teaspoon per ounce this might help, good luck.

  2. Add Some Cereal For His

    Formula

    pick the one that doesnt

    upset his stomach

    Wish him the best

  3. When my daughter had diarrhea off and on for 3 weeks she lost some weight and the doctor suggested to give her carbs to help her gain weight. I was giving her pasta, rice, potatoes. Ask your doctor if that would is appropriate for your son...

  4. how much your baby weighs?  I have the same problem, also have a 9 month old and he is 16lb 5.5oz..... he is breastfed, no formula, tried to give him some but he won't drink it..... he likes cereal, banana, cheerios, baby fish.... I give him other foods to try, what we eat, but mostly he just has couple of spoons and that is it....so not a big eater...   my ped wants me to try to fatten him up a little and gave me 6 weeks to do so, failing that she will do some tests just to make sure that all is ok..... now I am not panicking too much as my husband is lean and has problem of gaining weight so I am sure that our son has taken after him.. he is healthy and progressing in any other way great so I'll just try and feed him but there is nothing you can do if they don't want to eat much... good luck!
