I am in the middle of restoring a 80 year old house. For now I only have a swamp cooler. I live in Reddin Ca. and it is going to get up to 103 this week.....*gasp*

Besides just cooler pads, what are some ways to make my swamp cooler run cooler air?

  1. If the water circulates over the pads, then that is about it.  Swamp coolers only work in dry climates.  If you have a hum ed day it wont work well.  Thea are called Evaportive coolers because they evaporate water to make it cool.  If the humidity is up then you have a slow evaporation.  So not much cool.

  2. Just make sure the water is evenly circulated over the pads.

If one pad is not evenly saturated that air will pass through and not absorb any heat from the air.

These units only work well in low humidity locations. They are only just a step up from a whole house fan.

    Good luck
