Question:

How can I make myself do what I am supposed to do?

I want to do everything that I am supposed to do, like effectively do all of my chores, do my daily pushups, and go outside to play with my friends. Unfortunately, I always get caught up with unimportant things. How do I force myself to do what I am supposed to do, and even what I want to do deep down, without getting distracted?

  1. do you have ADD?because I find that it happens to all of us at one time or another

  2. Man, you need to make a list! just write a list of everything that you want to get done that day, and motivate yourself. LIke if u finish everything you wanted to , get yourself an icecream or something--it's not that hard!!!

  3. Uhm, by doing it?

    Do you really need assistance?

Are you going to blame it on a disease?

Geez, do it, or find out how fast your life will go down the drain and by that time, you'll be homeless.

  4. somtimes I give myself consequeces for not doing my workouts or over eating. like an extra 200 crunchs or no pc

  5. Sounds like you need to grab yourself a peice of paper and write down a strict schedule. Decide and prioritize what NEEDS to be done, how to do it, and where it fits on your schedule.

Then decide how to reward yourself when you follow the plan. Share this method with your parents, and ask them to help you stick to the reward/"punishment" system you come up with (like, say for every chore you do correctly, you get to do something you want to do on a weekend day, like hang out. If you don't do what needs to be done, then you don't get that reward).

I have a point system going - for everything on my schedule that I complete effectively and completely, I get points. When I have enough points, I get to do things that I want to do, but that don't fit into the prioritized schedule (like take my motorcycle for a cruise, or just be lazy for a day).

May be that helped, not sure. Hope it did!

  6. i always think of the consequences if i do not do what i plan on doing, it constantly will be on my conscience and the only way i can rest my mind is to just do it, i tried schedules and planners but they just do not work for me, so i constantly think of what i have to do and once i feel a sense of relief, then it doesn't distract my mind throughout the day or night..

  7. make a scedule and follow it. i have this problem too, good luck!

  8. Get some motivation.

  9. the word is discipline. if you want to then do it. if you don't then don't. whatcha want?

  10. umm first i would get off the computer lol then i wouold make a list of goals i wanted to meet by a certain time and try to do it (i.e. do all chores on list by end of day) or (i.e. get B's or higher in school, but make time for friends)

  11. You lack discipline, you need some self-discipline
