I've been screaming non-stop and i'm only a little hoarse. But, I need to sound really hoarse tomorrow b/c I'm trying out for a play and the character in the movie is always hoarse, so I thought it would help me out a bit to get the part! Tips?

  1. Go see your favourite team play and join in with the "singing" LOL.

I wish I could, but as a professional singer I can only ever go to a match when I'm on a break from work.

Drinking Scotch at the same time helps

  2. A concert

  3. I find that when I sing without using my diaphragm it makes me hoarse.

  4. Try singing your favorite songs over and over at the top of your lungs like one of the hard metal bands.

  5. Avoid liquids. Engage in "vocally abusive" behaviors such as the annoying through clear that we hear people doing. Try to "squish" your throat and push out air without voicing. Also, the hardcore rocker scream might work.  Most likely your efforts will be useless though, it takes quite sometime to damage the vocal folds enough to create a hoarse voice. Then you have to try to repair the vocal folds to rid yourself of the voice disorder.

Your time would be better spent perfecting a hoarse sounding voice for the part than actually achieving it. Good luck!

  6. Sing along to your favorite songs, go to a ball game, or just getting into a screaming match with yourself if there's no one else to scream at.  You could do some research online for more tips.
