Question:

How can I make rice stick together?

I'm trying to make bento, but I can't get the rice to stick together.

I'm using the minute rice that comes in a cup and you just heat it up in the microwave.

Is there something tasteless I can use to make it stick together, or will I just have to use the rice you cook?

  1. Buy sushi rice.

  2. try boiling a cup of water and adding 2 tablespoons of cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons cold water. the mixture should be like a gravy. you may add a little of that to it. usually sticky rice is short grain rice cooked in extra water.

  3. probably cook

  4. try butter...i have no idea.

  5. Try water. Pour water into a bowl and wet your hands every once in a while to get the rice to stick together.

  6. You need to use short grain rice.  This kind of rice is shorter and a stickier than other rices.  You need to cook this rice yourself.  Also, if you're making sushi, you need to add a mixture of vinegar, sugar and salt to the rice after it's cooked.  The rice in minute rice is not made to stick together.

  7. add more water when you cook it

  8. TRY HOT BOILED WATER AND ABOUT 5 SPOONS OF MARGARINE OR BUTTER

  9. use bogie's idea

u do the same thing for sushi rice

  10. don't use minute rice. U need to be able to reduce the amount of water u cook the rice in. with less water it gets sticky.

  11. Minute Rice would be your problem.

You need to use "real" rice that you cook/steam for 20 minutes.  Use a short grain rice such as arborio... they are stickier than long grain rices.

  12. Try short grain rice instead of minute rice. It's easily molded and sticks together as long as you make the rice balls while the rice is still hot. I like kokuho rose brand (white bag with a red rose on it).

  13. simple ! take glue and stick em togather man !!!
