How can I make sure I don't get ripped off buying tickets on Ebay or Craig's List?

I'm looking at buying Chris Rock tickets and I don't want to get ripped off.

  1. don't pay more than you are willing to, or make sure you don't pay more for the tickets than you think they are worth.

  2. Ask for reciept of purchase or a credit card statement, something that suggests the tickets were purchased and are authentic. Also while you are with the seller but before you hand over your cash contact the ticket agency to see if they are legit. Otherwise you're taking your chances on those potentially fugazi tickets. And as you know it's "buyer beware"

    If they do turn out to be fugazi, DON'T STALK OR HARRASS THE SELLER. Contact the authorities. That's what I did when I scammed out of some White Stripes tickets a couple of years ago. I called the police and it turned out the dude had made copies of his real ticket and sold them to several people! I was able to recoup my money too!

    Also you could pay with a check. and let the person know you'll put a stop payment on it if the tickets turn out to be bogus.
