Question:

How can I make sure the edges of my hard candy are rounded?

I use dental materials to make my own specific molds. I pour the hot candy liquid into the mold. After it has cooled and hardened, I pop the candy out. The cast is great, except that one side (the side from where I poured) has sharp edges. I can't figure out how to make the edges rounded all the way around. Don't like sharp-edged candy going into people's mouths....

  1. If you have a mini-torch, use that to lightly go over the edges and melt them down a little bit to soften.

If no torch, then you could also use a spoon that you don't really mine using, and stick the end in the burner of a gas stove (with gloves or a hot pad, of course). Then when it gets hot, run it over the sharp edges just to smooth them out.
