The refrigerator in the house doesn't make ice fast enough

I cleaned it out this morning cause it looked all weird. and there has only been like 4 cubes in the last 5 hours.

  1. I'm sorry man but..... use ice trays or get a new fridge... or get the one you have fixed.

  2. You won't believe it but it works. Fill the ice cube trays with HOT water! It produces ice cubes in half the time. Did this experiment at school when I was but a boy. Forget why it works though, it just does!

  3. there should be a temperature control...turn the thing to the max...that should work.

  4. A common problem with refrigerators is with the defrost timer - if it dies (stops in the non-defrost position), your internal coils will slowly load up with ice and block air flow, and the first symptom is that the freezer is not cold enough.

That will cause the icemaker to perform slowly or even completely stop - generally it 'knows' to dump out a load of ice cubes when the temperature of the ice gets enough below freezing, let's say 25 degrees.  That's how it knows it is ice and not still water.

If your freezer is only getting down to 28 degrees, then they'll never dump out, or very slowly.

If this has all been working OK, and you haven't adjusted any controls, this could be your problem.  Put a freezer thermometer in there, temp should generally run around 0-10 degrees.

Is your ice cream kinda soft too?

  5. Adjust freezer to the coldest temp
