Im getting into bonsai, and I want to make trees from the seeds of a Globe maple tree, and a cherry tree. Whats the best way to grow the seeds that come from the little helicopter things (I think they're called samaras) and how can I plant the seeds in a cherry?

  1. The cherry pits will be from hybrids and they won't grow. Even if they did grow then the fruit would be quite heavy for bonsai trees to support.

As for the maples, you germinate them just like you would any maple and then you bonsai the plant by selective pruning of the roots and branches.

The Miyabe Maple is considered difficult to germinate according to this link.

  2. the helicopter things are the seeds. you can plant them in soil and should get sprouts in a awhile. look up that tree species on web and find out how much time.
