Alright so right now I'm playing my first year on varsity basketball and I'm going through a tough time. One game I'll play great like all aspects of my game but then the next game, I dont know why, I'll just be off. Its almost as if my expectations are higher or something because I played well and I know I can. Its not like I'm overconfident after a good game. I practice the same after every game. After a good game I push myself just as hard. Its not like I'm rusty or anything either. During a bad game ill get frustrated and its tough to keep my head in it. Help me please. Am I overconfident? Underconfident? What can I do?

  1. Just keep getting after it.  If you miss a few shots early on in a game keep telling yourself it's no big deal.  When you have the bad games are all aspects of your game off?  Because if not..as I said before just keep getting after it and playing good defense..sometimes all you really need to do is play some solid d and it will help you out offensively.  Good luck.

  2. yo i have tha same problem u do good one day and tha next u jus keep missing i say jus keep practicing and jus keep tellin urself u can do it

  3. You're going through an emotional rollercoaster, and I've been through it. But as a coach, I see it more. Players get down on themselves because they aren't doing as good as they think they should be.

You should work on trying to contribute otherwise, like help defense, passing, off-ball movement, etc. You have to stay focused and realize that the main goal is winning. If you get discouraged, you've already lost.

  4. d**n i know how this feels.

just keep focusing on the next shot. dont worry about your mistakes.

or do what i do and make up for them with extra hustle.

    good luck!

  5. Put your past behind you and focus on the future. But from what you said, I guess I'll call you inconsistent. You fill the stat sheet tonight but the next game you're off. If it's always or almost always like that, you are inconsistent. If I struggle early in the game, I don't shoot for a while. But if we're down, I become more aggressive. I give out my best. I that's what you should do.
