Question:

How can I market myself for a new job without my current employer finding out?

I'm planning to move out of state. I've found a company that does exactly what my current company does with a position that is exactly what I currently do. The problem is, I don't want word to get back to my current employer that I'm floating my resume. My industry is technical and is a small community and while I work in Michigan and am planning to move to Virginia, I'm worried that someone from the company in Virginia will mention my name and it could somehow get back to my current company. Any advice on how to avoid this? My resume will obviously go to HR -- is it likely they will share my name?

  1. Remember when you submit an application to a company they ask, if they can contact the present employer is up to you to inform them of such question like no because in my op pinion i will be moving from one state to another state, and if they need you, they will get you a test to see if you qualify for the position in which you are applying for.

don't forget to include in your resume do not contact my present employer yet until I will be hired from you the company

  2. Obviously, you are not the only person to have this concern when job hunting. - if you ask that the hiring company keep your application confidential, they should honor your request.  You have to take a few risks to get the rewards you want.
