  1. run more often and longer

  2. Well, there are a few things you can do.

    1) be fully hydrated.  if you are dehydrated, your body can't get nutrients to the body and waste out of it.  Not a good thing.

    2) eat properly.  Not to say that a pop-tart now and then isn't okay, but if you constantly skip meals, you won't have the energy to work as hard.  Some people (like myself) prefer to spread meals across a longer time, small bits at a time.  I don't eat a lot of lunch at once, so that is how i still get in the nutrients during the day

    3) stretch.  This loosens you up, and allows you to be comfortable running, so you can get the most out of your workout.  (stretching with a rope, Wharton-style, is the best way.  i'll include a link for it below)

    4) warm-up well.  if you've run, you know that a warm-up will loosen you up, and will allow you to be comfortable going into the workout.

    5) do the workout the way it's planned.  If your pace for each 800 is supposed to be 3 minutes, don't do the first one at 2:40.  This wastes your workout, because the rest won't be on pace.  Longer isn't always better, and neither is faster.  The proper way to do it is to listen to your coach, and to stick to the right pace.

    6) Replenish!  After the workout, preferably withing 20 minutes, get something in.  Anything.  Whatever you will eat.  It can be a granola bar, peanuts, cereal, but you need something so your body can refuel.  Get water in too, because it gets the nutrients in and the waste out.

    7) cool-down.  This can keep your muscles from getting tight so soon, it also can just feel good after a tough workout.

    8) Ice, if you feel you need it.  Icing allows you to control the swelling of the muscles, so if you feel an area getting a bit tight, or sore, you may want to ice it.  it also just feels good.

    9) Get a good night's rest.  It gives your body time to recover.  Actually, you should get good rest before a workout as well, so you have enough sleep, and thus enough energy, to workout.

    Hope it helps!

  3. f**t Princple-

Frequency- How many days you train

    Intensity- How hard you train

Type- What type of training- e.g weight training, interval etc

Time - How long you Train

All these should be taken into consideration. If you want to improve the word OVERLOAD should be applied, search it on Google, basically meaning increase all these attributes hopefully you will "maximize" your workout.

    Hope this helps.
