  1. Hi John

The best way is to use the dots or markers as guide. They are usually placed on the side of the neck and very useful.

That is the best guide for note placement.

  2. All scales are movable. chords too. here's an easy way I was taught years ago. Make an open "E"chord but put your first finger on the NUT and use the rest of the fingers to make the chord. Move it up ONE fret it's turns into "F",move that to the 5th fret and it's an "A", to the 8th and it's a "C"

Do that with ANY open chord, same with scales, even chord progressions.

  3. There are only 18 notes on the entire guitar neck.

My teacher use to make me read note flashcards .

Learn Scales if you want to get better at soloing also technique is super super important

  4. well its pretty simple really. As you probably know, the strings are EADGBE as you go from top to bottom. Notes go E, F, F sharp, G, G sharp, A, A sharp, B, C, C sharp, D, D sharp, back to E. So basically each fret down the neck is a sharp of the note before except for the notes E and B. I hope that makes sense. Also, by your 12th fret, the notes are the same as if you hit the open strings. I hope that helps, sorry if it doenst
