How can I minimize the lag I get on xbox live?

I enjoy playing Halo 3 on xbox live however I often recive a lot of lag.

My nat is set to open, I have opened all nessesary ports and am pretty sure its not my router which has been optimized with QOS managment so that my xbox gets the bulk of my connection.

My connection speed is 512 kbps (about 400 down 112 up). I know its not the speed that is the problem, I dont lag out on my friends connection in America (However i live in india which may be the problem?) which is the same speed. Is there anything I can do?

Wireless lags a lot more than a wired network.

DSL has a LOT more errors than cable or fios, thus creating a lot of lag as it has to resend erroneous packets.

Make sure to use cat 5e\6 Shield Twisted Pair (STP)

Well your lagg could depend on alot of things.

Maby someone else is downloading on your network.

Maby the server you are on is very far away.

To minimize the lagg I suggest to play on servers with a good connection, that are close to you.

And to minimize the network usage so only your Xbox is using the network.
