How can I motivate myself to practice (dance)?

I go to the studio for class three times a week. But, I dance competitively, so I try to practice everday. I want to be better, and to win, but I am having trouble motivating myself to practice everyday. I don't want to force myself to practice, so how can I motivate myself so I WANT to practice? Even just trying to picture myself winning a big competition doesn't really work. Any ideas?

  1. Look back at the times when and where you felt like trash, and the clouds were grey the kinda times where people thought you and your dancing was no good, and channel that energy into your dance, I mean theres no point of dancing if your not inspired let your emotion run through your body and use it as fuel.

  2. A way for me to get motivated to practice, is to think of it as not practicing, but performing. I just picture myself doing some famous dance in front of a large audience. Another way for me to get motivated is to put on music  or a video of a famous ballet, and try to dance along with it or at least learn the dances. You can do the same for whatever kind of dance you do.

  3. Well... this works for me. What I do is find a song I really like, and then just dance for fun for about five minutes. Then I practice my routine a couple times and then go back to dancing for fun. That way I keep myself motivated and I get my practicing done.

  4. Think Of what practicing will do to you. Look at all those AMAZING dancers that you want to be one day and it will make it all worth it. =)

    best of luck to  you
