Question:

How can I narrow my search for companies that will invest in green technology or will secure a huge contract?

Let me be specific, we all hear about the coming energy revolution and the massive infrastructure the U.S. needs to be renovate. So how can I begin my search? I have a subscription @ Morningstar but I have no idea on how to narrow my search.

I guess it would be something like industry, and then sector but what else? How do the pros find out which companies win contracts or invent a super hybrid car etc?

Thank you!

  1. it depends on how much you are looking to invest, if you have more than 100k and are looking to invest in ethanol research where you have limited risk with an audited track record of over 40 percent return for the past 5 years, 866 622 2427 extension 2263.

  2. Work. Lots of work. :-)

I would avoid the companies that are directly involved in "Green" technologies, because they are extremely volatile, and no one can really predict which way they'll go. If congress requires them, they'll go up. If congress ignores them, they'll stay flat. If congress removes the requirement for them, they'll tank. (look at ethanol... it's become a disaster.)

I do have a couple of SMALL plays on companies that are "green" but only ones I think will be successful without any subsidies or legal requirements. (one is Green Star Products, they make diesel fuel out of alge -- GSPI.pk on yahoo finance, another is CREE which makes LED lighting products.) - they are both speculative, and I have my departure from cree planned already -unless they come out with interesting great news.

A probably better way to go would be to invest in Corning (GLW) which has many things going for it other than it's involvement in diesel exhaust filtration and solar panels.

If you go into the big solar plays or big wind plays, be careful. the ride up may be fun, but the ride down will be fast.
