  1. Tell them to remove the certification.  De-certify the car, sell it with no warranty. The price will automatically drop $2500.


  2. Kelly Blue Book is kinda of useless in the CPO market, as it is kind of like a CPO car is kbb + whatever the warranty is. You wish to knock the price down, have them take off the warranty and they can than drop the price.

  3. The best way to negotiate with them is use kelley blue book and use the trade in price.

  4. Not sure from your question what you are asking, but anyway, try to negotiate and extended warranty be thrown in for whatever deal you settle on.  They get them cheap and it is extra protection for you.

  5. Be nice, be reasonable, be civil.  

    Walking in with a KBB trade value is something dealers see everyday.  Why people look up the wrong value and try to say it's the right value is beyond me, but you won't be "pulling the wool over their eyes" it's so common it's comical.  

    Don't ask for a service contract to be thrown in, nothing is "thrown in" you pay for what you get, trust me, yeah we can get the contracts sorta cheap, but the cheaper ones are from fly by night companies that go belly up every other month, thus they are practically worthless.  The more expensive ones are "higher quality" [term used VERY loosely] but they are so expensive they aren't really worth it.  If the place is willing to "throw in" a service contract, ask how much of a discount you can get if they  throw the service contract in for some other sucker.  If they say none, they are s******g with you don't buy it, I guarantee they will come around.

    Really though, I've been selling cars for over ten years, think about how you would want to be treated as a person and project that onto your sales buddy.  Then if they don't give you what you consider to be a good deal, go somewhere else.  If you are going to a bigger store, after the pleasantries with the sales guy deal with the manager, they are the only ones who have any say on price.  If you are going to a smaller place find the owner, he's got the say.

    The key is to make them feel some sort of empathy for your situation, that doesn't mean be whiny about getting a good deal, it means get them to see you as a person not just a customer, you have to get them as close to being on "your side" as you can, it takes people skills on your end, but your whole experience will be better.

  6. start low, they beat you up some but don't cave, remember they do have the only car for sale.
