Hi well basically I live in Kent and I guess ive developed quite a posh accent, not like over posh but the thing is peoples attitudes towards me are different. I'm not middle class or anything like that and I dont have middle class values yet people judge me by my accent.

Is there any way I can kind of 'train' myself to not be speak with this posh accent?!

  1. use slag words and try and copy other peoples way of speaking that don't speak posh

  2. Try pronouncing your T's like D's ??? or maybe that's just how to sound American :)

Actually, thinking about it you could just try pronouncing your T's with less wetness... and that means don't let the end of the T sound become whispery, if that makes sense.

Let your T's end with your tongue touching the top of your mouth/top teeth... don't actually let it become a fully figured, wet, T.
