How can I not be pregnant????I'm confused!?

Question

So it's 5 days till my period starts and i took a prego test today and it was neg. I cried of course because i so want it to be positive and my husband finally realized how much i want a child of my own....and i don't know how i could possibly not be prego cus we had s*x before-through- and after my ovulation like everyday or every other day. So am i just overeacting could i still be prego or not. cus if i'm not i think i'm gunna be a basket case....please no rude comments this is a fragile situation....

How are you predicting your ovulation???  Are you just having s*x 14 days after you start your period???  If that IS what you are doing you need to read a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".  It gives you a better understanding of when YOUR body ovulates and how to tell exactly when that is.  Even if you are doing everything right and there is nothing wrong with either of your fertility, there is only a 25% chance of getting pregnant every month.  Just keep trying and READ THIS BOOK!  I TTC#1 for EIGHT years and this book helped me figure out what was wrong!!

Take a deep breath.   It might be too early to take the pregnancy test... I know there are early detection tests but they aren't always accurate.  You could still be pregnant. I would wait until you actually miss your period to test for it.  

I've heard that it's optimal to have s*x every two days during ovulation. More frequent s*x can mean you're getting less sperm from your man.    I found the at home ovulation test helpful, but it still took about a year to conceive.

Having your husband tested for fertility may be helpful.  Also... I'm not sure if you are using an ovluation test kit or not..but I found a found months where it said I didn't ovulate at all....so this could be one of those months for you.

Hang in there... : ) I know it's hard not knowing but if it is taking longer that you expected to get pregnant..you're not alone.

Just take a test after the 5 days if you dont get it. lots of baby dust...

Well first off you tested too early. You may very well be pregnant but don't have enough of the pregnancy hormone in your system yet. If you are not though don't lose hope. Even with perfect timing (s*x during ovulation) there is still only a 20-25% chance of becoming pregnant each month. I am not sure how long you have been trying for but it doesn't always happen right away. My husband and I have been trying for 5 months and still nothing. You just have to stay positive and keep trying. Good luck to you!

You tested to early to know for sure.  Only a small percentage of woman can get a positive on an HPT before their period is due.  Wait and see if you start and test again.  I have never ever gotten a positive before my period is due even with the early tests.

1.  It often doesn't work the first month you try.  Eggs are hardy little boogers.  They protect themselves well from the sperm.  Multiple tries might be required.

2.  It's still 5 days before your period starts.  Even EARLY ept tests are very inaccurate that early.  Wait a week and take another test.

Hi Jewels, I feel you! I'm in the same exact situation as you - we also had the before-through-after ovulation intercourse. It has only been 3 days after my ovulation, and 11 days till my period starts. I am counting the days and resisting taking the HPT because I know I need to wait until my period due date gets closer.

Please don't get upset now, it's still too early to tell. Take another HPT in 5 days. Relax, think positive, your body needs to be at peace. I know this is easier said than done, but I do wish you all the luck and that you and your husband get a healthy baby soon!

its not as easy as it seems. besides sometimes it doesnt show that soon on a test. u should wait until u miss a period then test.
