Also, does a MMDA (Money Market Deposit Account) resemble in any way a bank account?

  1. You just need a SSN or  tax identification number.  Contact the IRS to find out about securing a tax identification number.

An MMDA is a type of bank account. It works similarly to a checking account except you are limited in the number of transactions you can make on a monthly basis.  For that reason, most depositors have both a checking account and an MMDA.  They simply transfer from the MMDA when they need money in the checking account to make purchases or pay bills.

    Hope this helps.
