How can I open my locked washing machine?

It is a Hotpoint WD71 and has been dodgy since I got it second hand. I think the drum is too loose and is basically knackered. There are some things in it when it went totally insane and blew the fuse the other day and now the lock symbol will not go away no matter what programme you put it on. I think I am just going to dump it but how can I hack into it and get the stuff out?

Trying unplugging and wait about 2 minutes to give unit time to reset, this might help.

never heard of a washer that locks.  read your owner's manual.
