Question:

How can I order an international prepaid call card?

I want to buy an international prepaid call card and have it mailed to my Dad in the USA (he doesn't have e-mail, so I don't want to get one that sends a PIN number by e-mail), so he can call me over here in Asia. Can anybody out there recommend a really good company?

Big love,

Diana

  1. I use for many years onesuite.com....then go online an add him as a user ( his phone-number)...that's what I do with my family abroad!!!

I have an 95 year old Aunt and we had to teach her how to do it!! Now, she loves it!! (I guess she doesn't have to pay for it)

  2. You can create your own calling card using a VoIP service, such as InPhonex (see my profile for link).

To use it as a Calling Card service, you do not need any equipment.  All you need to do is sign-up online for the Pay-As-You-Go account.  It only cost $9.95 of prepaid calling credits to start making calls.

To make calls as a Calling Card, all you (or your Dad) need to do is:

    - dial one of the many USA or world-wide Calling Card gateway numbers (or their 1-800 access number, if in USA)

    - enter you virtual phone number (account #)

    - enter your pin

    - then, dial your destination number

This is all done using a regular phone or mobile phone, no VoIP equipment needed.

Calls in USA/Canada are only 2.5 cents/min when using a local access gateway number in any of the major USA cities.

Here are some sample per/min calling rates:

    China - 2 cent/min

    Hong Kong - mobile 2 cent, land 2.6 cent/min

    Singapore - 2 cent/min

    Taiwan - 2 cent/min

    South Korea - 3.4 cent/min land, 7 cent/min mobile

    Japan - 3 cent/min to landline

No monthly fees, or contracts.....only pay as you go calling with $9.95 top-ups when needed.

Self-administer you account online with your web browser.

You can create up to 5 virtual numbers (in-network number)  associated with your VoIP (or calling card) account.

Each virtual number can be individually set with its own PIN for calling card access.  This means, you can give different family members their own PIN numbers and set each persons calling limits.

Very cool....  I have never seen another VoIP service with this versatility of usability.

CallCentric (also through my profile) also offers Calling Card access now.  Their rates are cheaper than InPhonex, but they don't have the extra Virtual numbers or as many Calling Card access points, or a 1-800 access....

    --------------------------

InPhonex and Callcentric self-administered accounts also allow you to set-up your calling card access so that No Pin is required.  All you do is register the telephone numbers that you will be using to access the gateways, and then no more Pin is required to make calls from those phones numbers...

(it's important to note that PINs are for Security to prevent fraudulent access to your calling card accounts)

  4. Use the search feature on this site (e.g. Best rate calculator)....they list and compare multiple providers.  Just depends on what specifics you're looking for.

  5. Sam's Club has an inexpensive international calling card and you can get one on the internet (it is by AT&T but it is cheaper than anywhere else by going to Sam's). Anyway, it's $24.97 and free shipping (at least in the U.S.)

  6. Hello Diana, check out http://www.phonecard-deals.com

They have good rates, easy PIN, easy refill. Also, you can call from Asia into USA or vice versa. It is cheap both ways. Just write the PIN number on a Postcard and send to your dad yourself.
