Hi!

I'm 15 and hate cleaning....It's like my worst nightmare..

Anyway

I will clean my room up..and think it's pretty organized, but then I end up wanting something and end up destroying my room to find it..which i never find it because I am so un-organized...(my room gets messed up like 30 minutes after its cleaned)

Any tips or suggestions!

Thanks!!

  1. The simplest rule of organizing is to find a home for everything and keep it in its place.  I know some very messy, organized people.  They know exactly where in their mess every item is.

If you think about it for a minute, in your room, you have very specific spots that you do certain activities. You tend to be on this side of the room when you get dressed.  You tend to be on that side of the room when doing your homework. Look around the room and figure out where you are when you are doing whatever.

I suggest you start by just keeping the items you use most often for those activities in those general areas. Make imaginary zone boundaries.  No homework stuff in your clothes space and no clothes in your homework space....

Once you get that down, you can get more specific. Take your homework space. You can find a specific home for paper, for pens, for notecards, etc.  Before you know it everything will fall into place and you will be able to find anything you are looking for and your room will start being more and more neat as time goes by without you spending a lot of time cleaning it.

Good luck. I hope this helps.

  2. Get open boxes to sort things according to either color or category. Stack them if you can.  Staying organized means commitment.  If it takes you a minute to get something, then it takes a minute to tidy up after yourself.
