  1. What you need to understand is that you are more likely to get injured holding back and shying away from contact than just going for it 100% whether it be tackling or with ball in hand. Tell your coach and ask him for some more one on one training to get your confidence up and technique right (even get involved in some mauls and rucks), once you are confident your game will improve and you can focus on other things like hitting gaps or putting other players into space or even trying to dislodge the ball in tackle. Anyway enjoy the game and Good Luck !

  2. To get over your fear of contact, a good option in training would be to practice a lot with tackle bags and barge bags. Also, one on one contact sessions, and small games in a confined area help to boost confidence. But when going into contact, always remember to hit low and pump the legs if you are attacking, and if defending, then a low, balanced body position is key. Once you make a few big tackles, or bounce a couple of people, you'll realise how good it feels to go into the contact situation if you do it properly. And if you do it properly, there is little chance of you getting injured.

  3. i don't know how you would overcome that

i've never had a problem going into contact

i'm not happy till i've at least put someone on the gorund so hard they are not getting back up ... any of their bones breaking is an added bonus ;-)

  4. Forget the player conentrate on the ball. God for the ball and foucus on it.

  5. Get yourself a pair of bollocks pal. If you don't like going into contact, then give up rugby and start playing table tennis or chess.

I bet you're American, aren't you? Some of the questions in this section crack me up.

  6. im just like you! but when i get over that hesitation i completely destroy people! i am pretty scared to get hurt though and im always thinking about that when im playing but when im really pumped up or mad as h**l it dosnt bother me at all and i just go out there and lay out people like a train! its really important to get over that fear of getting hurt though because i noticed when i try to tackle someone when im scared i might get hurt im the one that ends up on my back but usually after the first hit i feel better unless it hurts... but the olnly thing u can do to get over that is get mad as h**l or get pumped up by listing to music or somthin before the game.

  7. if you are hesitating to charge at him because you are afraid you will hurt yourself you can either take it like a man or not go in very hard and just slow him down..

if you just try and slow them down and go in quite hard you will eventually get confident in your tackles... well that's what happened for me

  8. a lot of that is mental. you have to want to hit somebody. if a man is bigger than you ,you better be running at him faster than what he is running at you. speed will compensate for the weight difference. lift weights to build up your shoulder muscles and tackle at the waist or legs , but you have to want  to hit o.k.?

  9. Man Up!

  10. Run at it full tilt, like with a lot of things you're nervous about, just do it. You'll find it's not bad and you'll get over it. I used to be like that with tackling. I would make a half-hearted attempt at tackling until one match I just shove my shoulders into some guy that was running straight at me. Since then I just tackle anyone no matter how big they are,.

Just do it and you'll overcome it, trust me.

  11. well what u have to do is not think about it and go for it, if the guy is bigger than u then go for the leggs if not put ur shoulder in his ribs
