I am in college in Ohio but Im from Boston and I don't know anybody at all here. I don't know where to begin. Please help me, how do I know I find people who will be my friends. I am not a girly girl and it seems everyone here is. What do I do?

  1. Despite all the people who are girly girls I'm sure there are some people around you who share common interests, you just need to look around.

Start simple conversations, just comment on a clothing article or the circulum. Be positive and send off a happy, welcoming vibe and people won't be afraid to approach you.

But you can't sit around and wait forever for someone else to approach you. You need to open up slowly on your own.

It's hard to make friends, believe me, I know, I was and am still ridicuously shy. I used to have very few friends and I used to stay tucked inside myself the whole time. Now I'm a little more outgoing and I have more then 2 friends. The change I did was with myself, you have to just put forth the effort.

The shyness is all in your mind and if you can supress it long enough to start up a simple conversation, you never know where it could lead from there. Perhaps you could meet your future maid of honor, but you'll never know unless you put yourself out there and take a risk and  open up.

You're only young once and it's too short to sit around afraid of talking to other people.

I hope my advice helped. If you  wanna talk or anything, feel free to email me

  2. You can start by smiling :) Nobody will want to make friends with somebody who sulks and keeps to herself all day long!

Anyway, people who are eventually gonna be your friends will love you for who you ARE and not what you are. Friendships based on those who will only like you for who you are will never last, trust me, i know only too well.

Besides, who says people have to make the first move on you? YOU can. :)
