How can I pass my Driver's Test with flying colors?

I am taking my driver's test on Monday and I'm extremely nervous about it. Are the testers extremely strict for the most part? Also, does anyone know when it comes to parallel parking what's the maximum amount you can be away from the curb?

I'm taking the MA road test in Cambridge, MA. Any help would be great! thanks!

  1. when i took my driver test 3months ago here in NY, i read dept. motor vehicle (DMV) manuals....

after that i watch the video (youtube) on how to do parallel parking and 3 point turn .

    good luck!

  2. I cannot help you on your parallel parking because when I took my test in Arizona, we just had to do an easy three point turn. However, here are a couple good hints for you:

    1) As soon as you meet the person who will be testing you, introduce yourself. Shake hands, tell them your name and be confident about the actions you are about to do. Show them that you KNOW how to drive and you are completely capable of completing this test! Believe me, if you can drive w/ a parent on the streets with no problem, this test will be cake for you!

    2) When you get in the car, the instructor wants to be sure that nobody will get hurt and everybody will be safe. So, you want to first get inside, close your door, put on your seatbelt, adjust your side mirrors and then your rearview mirror. You use all these in an everyday function of driving so if you can show them that you will use them, that shows that you are responsible and know about what to do whenever you get behind the wheel.

    3) Don't do anything stupid. I know this sounds weird but I have seen it happen. Some kids get in there, roll down their windows all the way, crank up the stereo and start dancing or head bobbing when they are going. That can cause severe damage if you aren't focusing your attention to the road at any time. So just be safe, stay focused, keep your hands on the wheel at all time and do not touch your phone. Probably a good idea to just turn it off.

    4) Go the speed limit, accelerate slowly, check mirrors often and yield to other cars. Basically, follow the rules of the road. Comprehend the signs on the road and follow them. If one says: School crossing and it is an elementary school at 3:15 in the afternoon, obviously you do not wanna go 50 mph through there without stopping. I think you know what I mean. Obey the signs and if there is stop sign, stop fully and check both directions before you proceed. And be sure you don't hit anyone. That always helps, haha.

Finally, they will instruct you on where they want you to go. Once you get back, turn off the car, then take off your seatbelt, and then exit the car. Be sure the car is in park too haha.

And if you do that, you will be fine. They aren't too strict at all. They know that nobody is perfect and as long as you show that you can obey the rules of the road, share the road, show safety and can drive without speeding or hitting anything, you will do fine. Best of luck to you! Hope you do well!

  3. study the manual
