How can I password protect folders and files on my computer?

I have Windows XP and I was wondering whether or not it was possible.

  1. You can make a folder "private" so that other users on the computer (the accounts that you login with upon startup) can't see or use them by right-clicking ->Properties ->Customize and checking the box that says "Make this folder private". However, you can only do this to your root folder with your username. If you want to protect it, you could always just make it hidden and then unhide it when you want to use it. Same process except it's at the bottom after you click Properties.


  2. Yes, it is.. go to Help and Support and enter customizing User Accounts into the search, and it will tell you how to do it..
