I lost my job 7 months ago. I have fell into debts by paying for food and buying things I need to survive. I am 17,000 in debt. I have sent my resume everywhere, been to a few interviews, and signed up for job assistance. I dont want to leave my debts in the air, I want to pay them off asap. Debtors have been calling me every second of the day. I am tired of this, I just want a job so I can be a productive person in society.

  1. You have to be prepared and make a

decision either wait for debt to go to collec-

tions and then make a settlement or file

bankruptcy and start fresh, dont let people

put you down you will hear all kinds of

comments but the people that tell you how

did you get so far into debt people are

cruel, a year ago I lost my job I had perfect

credit, suddenly I got sick my doctors

kept misdiagnosing what I had, lost like a

whole year on treatments, medicines and

no job in sight, businesses dont take too

kindly if youre sick all the time, then the

main income (my husband) decided to

leave, then my mother got alzheimers, just

one thing after another by the time I blinked

    I owed almost 15k, I couldnt believe it, I

thought I could get back on  my feet sooner

So when people just tell you you should

pay that like they know what youre going

thru,im not going to give you unused advice

and its not going to be easy, if you dont

get a job soon, get ahead of the situation

call debt consolidation co if you have any

income, if you dont then all recourse you

haveis wait for a collection co to call and

either make a settlement or just tell tem

flat out, no job no money, they might sue

but the job will see that theres no income to

pursue and the judge might decide to forgi-

ve the debt or make a future judment when

you are working, now in texas theres no

wage garnishments but check in your state

I almost went thru bankruptcy but I dismissed it, Id rather facde it headon then

wait 10 yrs because of bad credit.

    Good luck!!!!

  2. file bankruptcy  debt be gone

  3. Have you thought about making money online?

You don't really need any cash upfront to set up your own online business. You don't even have to own a computer, you could just go to the library and work online from there.

I'm guessing you have a lot of "free" time right now, which would be perfect to start bummarketing. Basically, you write articles/blogs/websites about products and earn money when someone buys through one of your links. The more time you have to write, the faster you'll start making money.

It can be a bit daunting to find the right information immediately to get you started, but I strongly advice you not to buy every ebook you come across. Most of them are just not worth their money.

  4. First things first. The next time someone calls you about the debt, tell them to STOP calling. Tell them you KNOW it's the law that if you tell them to stop calling you, they must. Promise them you will report them to the authorities if they keep it up.

You can certainly make money from home, too - try some of the survey sites people here have been talking about. And learn a little about internet marketing. Drop me a line if you'd like help on any specific marketing issue - I don't know everything about everything, but may be able to give you some pointers.

There are also a lot of small business ideas you may want to consider before you give up - the world is NOT just for the "employees", you know!

You could start your own small catering business if you cook well, or a cleaning service if you're good at that. If you are great at keeping everything organized, then you can offer yourself as an organizer (there are lots of people who can't clean up their desks or closets or whatever. If you're good with numbers, see if you can get the local accountant to hire you on part-time.

Try volunteer work as a way to get your foot in the door at some of the companies you want to work for. Literally - if you are confident of your abilities, offer to work for them for free for a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, take online courses on whatever topics interest you. There are many websites where you can learn for no cost about the things that interest you, including soap-making, candle-making, arts and crafts, even about management styles if that's what floats your boat.

Be persistent. And most of all, love yourself - you've been through some kind of personal h**l in the past few months, I'm sure, but be kind to yourself.

Please, every single night, before bed, tell yourself at least five or six things you're proud of yourself for doing - it can be as simple as "I remembered to take a shower today!" - and remind yourself that you love the strong, healthy person you are! In the daytime, set yourself a list of goals (keep it short - no more than 3 or 4 per day) that you PROMISE you'll accomplish this day. And stick to that, no matter what. You'll find your attitude gets way more positive - after all, whatever we focus on, expands.

Get hold of a copy of the book "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind" by T. Harv Eker. It's a totally mind-blowing book that will help you start thinking creatively. You may be able to find a copy at your local library or even at a used-book store - although, no one I know would give up their copy of that book, someone else may not value it as much! :)

And don't, don't, don't even think of filing bankruptcy. Just tell those creditors to stop calling.

    Hugs,

    FF

  5. Don't pay any attention to the collectors - they're high school dropouts following the orders of a 3rd rate college dropout. Don't file bankruptcy over $17,000 that's ridiculous. Maybe change your phone number though! Just focus on your career search and you'll find something. You can't possibly be productive if you're not 100% committed to this aspect! And forget about society - put yourself first! The rest will take care of itself! :)

  6. Bankrupcy is not the easy answer it once was with the new laws in place.
