I don't get nervous when I play with my friends, or with my dad, or anyone that I know personally, but I do get nervous when I'm playing others during a tournament. I won one match yesterday during a tennis tournament, and I feel great! But I have another one today, and I'm nervous again!!! HELP!

  1. be under confident then you will do better than you think and do better

  2. try playing the way you do with your friends. or pretend you are practicing

  3. winning ugly by brad gilbert

its like a book on how to improve mentally u should check it out

  4. What I like to do, is think of the situation positively, now that's different than cockily, like for example, its ad-in their serve. Instead of going like "I'm about to lose!" think of it like "One point away until I'm safe!" That way, you won't feel as much pressure and you won't choke.

Similarly, if you keep up a good attitude, it will affect your game, because if you think you will lose, you believe you will lose. And if you believe you will lose, you will for sure lose...So that's why you should keep a positive attitude, so you won't scare yourself to death.

  5. Tennis at any level is a very mental game. take things one point at a time

between games, set your racket down and dry your hands and face off with a towel. breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. and in that predicament, just think about how you're in control and that your opponent should be the one who's nervous.

  6. all you can do is play more matches and get more experience...the nervousness will go away on its own

  7. Take things one step at a time. Gaining experience is the key to alot of things even in tennis. Getting good in tennis takes time and of course practice. So keep on practicing and be an master in tennis is not time.

Play more with those whom you are comfortable with. Does not help? Play with the wall... Increase your strength and decrease your weaknesses. Perform in tennis. Put your mind on it and you will succeed!!

    Enjoy!

  8. most people get nervous and unfocused because of intimidation. just set your mind on what you're going to do, and what they're going to do, basically, just "read" them. that's what i do, and every time i know that they're going to hit in a specific area, i just hit right back to where they have absolutely no chance of returning it, unless they can travel at the speed of light, lol

  9. I'm the same except worse because I get nervous every time I play with anyone even people that I know and trust. But I try to stay calm and think of each point as it comes. I also try not to focus on winning but just trying my best and seeing what comes out of that. I'm not very competitive though but I feel great when I win or do better than I expected to. Just try to make the best of every situation and don't panic if everything is not going 100% correctly.
